Code Chivalric

  • Does successfully obtaining CP from the Code Chivalric rule (“If, at the start of any of your Command phases, your selected Oath’s Deed is completed, your army becomes Honoured for the rest of the battle and you gain 3CP [you can only gain CP in this way once per battle, and CP gained in this way are an exemption to the Core Rules that limit the maximum number of CP you can gain per battle round to 1].”) prohibit a player from accumulating another CP in the same battle round from another source, such as from an allied unit’s ability?

The Verdict: Yes. The Code Chivalric ability itself specifies that CP gained in “this way” (i.e. as a result of Code Chivalric) are exempt from the 1CP limit. It does not state that further CP generation may also occur. The Rules Commentary (Version 1.2, p.4) also now countermands the wording of the ability and it does count against the additional CP stipulations The Core Rules state that “Outside of the CP players gain at the start of the Command phase, each player can only gain a total of 1CP per battle round, regardless of the source” (CR, 10). If the CP generated via Code Chivalric are not supposed to count towards 1CP cap, a further rule would have to be added stating that they themselves are exempt (as they are now) and that they do not “count towards” the 1CP cap. No such rule exists and therefore the Code Chivalric CP prevent other CP being farmed through other means.

No other commentaries seem to have addressed this as of 03/2024.
